Alan Watts put it beautifully when he said, “The meaning of life is just to be alive. It is so plain and so obvious and so simple. And yet, everybody rushes around in a great panic as if it were necessary to achieve something beyond themselves.”
When I think about the times I feel most alive, I’m usually connecting with other people, sharing our perspectives and appreciating our differences. We’re moving past formality and getting into the whimsical. We feel safe to express our goofy ideas and we cheer each other on, often with laughter.
I’m interested in exploring where this idea that we need to achieve something beyond ourselves comes from and how it affects each of us individually. I’m over here practicing presence. I’m practicing to be more aware of my own experience. What are the stories I’m telling myself about things like meaning, purpose and success? And how are those serving me? Do they make me feel alive? Or do they make me feel dead inside?
Experience has taught me that we can challenge those stories with curiosity. And that changes everything else.
The first step is simply to become aware.
Cordova Coaching is the shingle I’m hanging out above my door to invite you to join me on this journey. For now, it’s a virtual door to a virtual office (Zoom). My vision for the future is a space with two exquisitely comfortable chairs, plenty of natural light and an espresso machine in the corner.
If you find yourself with questions about coaching, wanting to know more about me or to see if we’re a good fit, or eager to start the process, please reach out. I look forward to getting to know you!
Sincerely,
Dom

Here are a few questions I have found valuable so far:
1
What is important to me? and why?
2
What makes me feel most alive?
3
Am I prioritizing how my life feels or how it looks?
4
How much of my experience am I actually noticing?
5
What does a typical day look like in my ideal life?
